The digital impetus of our time has proved to be a welcome vehicle for ever new communication systems. A shrewd networker nowadays understands how to employ these for an optimal outcome. During the 18th century the concept of mutual benefits was as lively and fascinating. Musicians curiously glanced across their national borders at different customs and (musical) languages, studied and integrated these in their own work and created ingenious networks.
